Citizens can purchase and craft a wide variety of vehicles on the islands, from simply daily-driver cars to cargo-hauling trucks.

These vehicles can even be upgraded at a workshop to increase their performance!

Once purchased, vehicles will remain available to the owner until they are sold.

Acquiring a Vehicle

There are a few ways to get vehicles on the islands:

1) Complete the tutorial to get a free UAZ Jeep

2) Purchase a vehicle from one of the various vehicle shops

3) Craft a vehicle at the Crafting Station and redeem the document

Once acquired, the vehicle can be "parked out" for a small fee from any Garage!

Types of Vehicles

Every vehicle has its own advantages and disadvantages. This guide will help you make an informed decision on which vehicles suit you best.

Off-Road

These are nimble vehicles that are great for a variety of situations and terrain, with good handling and a quick acceleration.

However, they have poor fuel efficiency and average top speed, and the open-top variants can be risky if the vehicle flips and ejects you and your passengers.

There are three types of Off-Roads:

  • UAZ-469 Off-Road - The starter jeep from the tutorial, or purchasable for $10,000 from any Car Shop.
  • M151A2 Off-Road - A bit more expensive, with much better handling than the UAZ but higher fuel consumption
  • UAZ-452 Off-Road - The Van handles similarly to the UAZ Jeep, but has much more cargo space.

Trucks

These cargo vehicles are excellent for industrial purposes, boasting the largest cargo spaces of all vehicles.

However, they are much slower and are a challenge to maintain control, especially going downhill.

There are two types of Trucks, each with an Open Top, Canopy, and Fuel variant.

  • M923A1 - The American trucks are cheaper and have better handling, but lower speed and smaller cargo holds.
  • Ural-4320 - The Russian trucks hold much more cargo, but are the only vehicles that can be lockpicked.

Humvees

Humvees are primarily used for tactical purposes, as they have decent handling, can hold several guns, and offer some ballistic protection.

However, their fuel consumption is quite high, and their top speed is fairly average.

There are three Humvee variants, all with the same driving profile but with slightly different advantages:

  • M998 Light Utility Vehicle - The cheapest of the three humvees, but has no ballistic protection and lower cargo space
  • M998 Light Utility Vehicle - Canopy - The middle option, while it also has no ballistic protection it does offer slightly more trunk space
  • M1025 Light Armored Vehicle - The most expensive option, this one has ballistic protection and decent cargo space

Import Vehicles

There are a few specialized vehicles that can fill unique niches.

  • S105 Car - Also known as the "Sarka," this car has an impressive top speed and outstanding fuel economy, but is difficult to control even on paved roads
  • S1203 Minibus - This vehicle has the highest passenger capacity (8) of all vehicles, but can also be difficult to control off-road
  • Pickup-Truck - These are primarily used as getaway vehicles due to their high speed, good handling, and low fuel consumption
  • VW Rolf - The most expensive import vehicle, with a very high top speed. However, it's got a very low road clearance and is quite fragile

Lockpicking

Lockpicking sets can be purchased at the Outpost and used to gain access to the inventory of Ural trucks.

They cannot be used on any other vehicles, only Ural trucks.

To use one, stand at the rear of the Ural and look for the lockpicking option. If you succeed, you will gain access to the inventory of the vehicle!

Lockpicking sets will not grant access to the seats and will not let you drive the vehicle, though.
